What Mark Will You Make?

The longer I am teaching and the longer I am thousands of miles away from family, loved ones, and friends, I am getting a chance to reflect on what is important in life professionally and personally.

How Will You Make Your Mark?

Professionally:
As I start to think about my future as an educator,  I think about assessments, standards, learning outcomes, lessons, activities, materials,...and the students.  And as I think about all of this I start to really think about my future students and the impact whether seen or unseen I will have on them.  Then I'm thinking "What is the one aspect of life I want to leave with my students?  What will make Miss Hutchins's class different from all the rest?".  I am putting together my philosophy that will continue to change but if this is my chance to help mold the future I want them to feel that they are valued and loved, that they are in total control of their attitude, and to instill a transfer of confidence into their everyday life to not only stick up for what they know is right but to be patient, kind, and humble to one another. #leadbyexample

Personally:
I want to be the person to help people, be the hands of Jesus, to be blessed enough to be the right place at the right time.  I use to settle for whatever everyone else was doing and thought it was something I enjoyed, but I didn't yet know myself and what I wanted to do.  But given the time, the chance, and the will to seek I am finding God stir up a passion in me to help, to council, and to be that positive light in situations that aren't always popular.  If I talk the talk I need to walk the walk.  It all comes down to Love. Why wouldn't you want to be that person to help others through their stormy moments.

The person who dances with you in the rain will most likely walk with you in the storm.  So why not be the person dancing in the rain with others?
God has wired you the way you are because he wants you to join him and LEAVE this world BETTER than you found it.

How can you use what you have to make your mark?

"I want them to feel that they are valued and loved, that they are in total control of their attitude, and to instill a transfer of confidence into their everyday life to not only stick up for what they know is right but to be patient, kind, and humble to one another." I love this. In a world where kids go with the flow, I am proud of you for being someone who will encourage and stick with those who know there is something more...

"I use to settle for whatever everyone else was doing and thought it was something I enjoyed, but I didn't yet know myself and what I wanted to do." Again, thanks for taking a stand to help children become thriving teens and then thriving adults. The world needs more teachers like you, Miss Hutchins.
